Ridge Meadows RCMP launched a new Youth Leadership Foundations course, which runs from Aug. 19 to 23.

The RCMP wants to teach Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows kids key leadership skills, which is why they've announced the launch of their new Youth Leadership Foundations course in partnership with the City of Maple Ridge.

Led by members of the Ridge Family Youth and Resources Support Team, this interactive course will take local youth through a variety of real-world learning scenarios in order to help mould the teens into better volunteers and future employees.

This is a five-day course and is an incredibly useful resource for any local kids between the ages of 12 and 16, explained Ridge Meadows RCMP officer-in-charge Supt. Wendy Mehat.

"Youth Leadership Foundations is an exciting opportunity to support the next generation to learn, grow, and make a positive impact in our community," said Mehat.

"We are committed to empowering our youth and help them develop the skills to lead with integrity and confidence."

Registering for the course is free, but there are limited spots available. The program will take place between noon and 4 p.m. each day from Aug. 19 to 23 at Greg Moore Youth Centre.

Anyone interested in registering their child for Youth Leadership Foundations can do so by visiting mapleridge.ca/parks-recreation/programs-registration.
