Registration is now open for the annual Hike for Hospice event, which is coming up on May 25 at scenic Allco Park (13255 Alouette Road) in Maple Ridge.
The Ridge Meadows Hospice Society invites members of the public to join them for a short memorial walk in honour of grief and loss.
The day will include music, face painting, memory rock painting, and a ceremonial flower petal release at the side of the Alouette River.
A pizza picnic will follow the walk, generously donated by the team at Silver Valley Dominos.
The day will start with welcoming remarks at 10:15 a.m.,
There is no cost to attend, but registration is required through the link on the society website at ridgemeadowshospicesociety.com, and donations are welcomed.
The Ridge Meadows Hospice Society is a registered not-for-profit charitable organization funded through grants, memberships, donations and bequests. It was founded in 1980 when Edna Trethewey, a former public health nurse, realized the need for help for dying patients and their families in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. It now has 11 paid staff members and 120 volunteers.
The Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce acknowledged them with the Non-Profit Organization of the Year award at the 2025 Business Excellence Awards earlier this month.
