Fraser River flooding and salmon will be the topic of an upcoming webinar.

The Watershed Watch Salmon Society is offering an upcoming lunch-and-learn webinar about flooding on the Fraser River and the challenges for wild salmon.

Watershed Watch will be joined by members of the Resilient Waters initiative on July 11 at noon. They will talk about outdated flood infrastructure such as pump stations, and how 1,700 km of habitat is cut off from salmon. They will also cover the Resilient Waters project, including field work and scientific studies.

After the presentation, there will be a question-and-answer session with experts.

Speakers will include habitats program director for Watershed Watch Lina Azeez, project manager of Resilient Waters Dan Straker, biologist Mike Pearson, and environmental consultant Patrick Lilley.

Registration for the event is available online at eventbrite.

Watershed Watch has been active in restoration of the Katzie Slough and other conservation projects in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
