VIDEO: Serious crash shutdown rural Maple Ridge roads

132nd Avenue was shut down for hours Saturday by accident investigators

A head-on crash between a pickup truck and a car in Maple Ridge sent one person to hospital this holiday weekend.

The collision occurred on 132nd Avenue, east of 203rd Street, at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service was called to the scene to investigate the crash, and had 132nd Avenue shut down for some time while they investigated the cause.

One of the occupants was taken by ambulance to hospital, but according to Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl. S. Teja, that person was released a short time later with non-life-threatening injuries.

"There were no serious injuries," Teja reported.

A mechanical inspection is being conducted, as police are trying to determine the cause, explained the RCMP watch commander.

"We're still trying to determine how it all went down," Teja said, to then assess if there will be criminal charges of dangerous driving or a lesser charge under the Motor Vehicle Act.
