Only a couple of weeks after the city hosted the massive multi-day-long BC Summer Games, yet another summer games event will be coming to Maple Ridge.
This time, it will be in the name of charity though, with the Pathfinder Youth Society bringing back its annual Charity Summer Games on Aug. 9.
This fundraising sports event will look quite a bit different from the BC Summer Games, with much more unique sports being held during the one-day event.
A total of 20 teams are competing at this year's Charity Summer Games, said Marsten Sequeira of Pathfinder Youth Society, which is double the number at the 2022 event and marks continued growth in the fundraiser year after year.
Throughout the day, these 20 teams will compete in football blitz, obstacle course, relay race, human foosball, and tug-of-war events.
And the money raised as part of this event will help the Pathfinder Youth Society offer its wide variety of programs to local youth.
"We provide youth from unfortunate situations with resources and equip them with essential skills through our various programs," said Sequeira.
The Charity Summer Games will take place at Telosky Stadium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.
