Madisyn Grof won gold for Canada at the U20 Pan American Championships and has now qualified for the U20 World Championships in Spain.

A Maple Ridge wrestler has qualified for the U20 World Championships, but in order to get there, she needs some help from the community.

Madisyn Grof has been a force to be reckoned with in the world of wrestling for quite some time, with the star athlete recently earning gold at the 2024 U20 Pan-American Championships in Peru.

Now she hopes to be able to add a World Championships medal to her trophy case.

Unfortunately, the U20 World Championships are taking place in Pontevedra, Spain this year, and getting an athlete from Maple Ridge to Spain isn't cheap.

"Attending the World Championships comes with significant costs for travel, accommodation, and training expenses," explained Grof.

That's why a Gofundme has been set up to help get Grof to Spain this September so she can compete at the biggest event of her young wrestling career.

"Any contribution, big or small, will help me focus on my training and give my best performance in Spain," said Grof.

"This opportunity means so much to me, as it represents the years of hard work, dedication, and training. Competing at this event has been a dream of mine, and I can’t wait to showcase my skills on the world stage."

The online fundraiser has a goal of $6,000, which has almost been entirely met already in less than two weeks, with the total donations sitting at $5,700 at the time of writing.

The U20 World Championships begin on Sept. 2 and continue through Sept. 8.

Anyone wanting to make a contribution to Grof's World Championships journey can do so by visiting www.gofundme.com/f/help-madisyn-grof-canadian-female-wrestler-go-to-the-worlds.

"Thank you for believing in me."
