Tickets are now on sale for the annual dinner and hockey game to remember Noah Trulsen, and raise funds for a scholarship in the late hockey player's name.
The annual Noah Trulsen Memorial Charity Game takes place on Nov. 9, and a $30 ticket gets patrons a seat to watch the recreational game, a dinner, and a drink of their choice. There are prizes to be won, with raffle and silent auction items from local donors, and last year's featured a raffle basket with Vancouver Canucks tickets, and a lotto board with $100 worth of scratch-and-win tickets on it. The event has raised $6,000 to $10,000 in past years.
The entire hockey world was shaken by the sudden death of the well-liked hockey player on Oct. 4, 2018, during a men's recreational hockey game in Langley. His parents, Lorraine and, organized the scholarship in his memory, and the annual game is the fundraiser that supports it.
Trulsen was just 22 and was the middle son in a popular Maple Ridge hockey family, and news of his untimely death brought tributes from his favourite player, ex-Canuck Kevin Bieksa, and one of his favourite singers, Lights.
The Trulsen scholarship is given out each year to a U-21 C player who is "giving, community oriented, and an all around kind human, just as Noah was." Last year's recipient was Brianna Ireland. The family said they wanted to support players at the Juvenile level – an age when players are still in minor hockey for the love of the game, and to keep playing with their buddies.
