Hundreds of young hockey players will be spending their Family Day weekend on the ice in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows as part of the annual Winter Round Up tournament.

This recreational competition draws U7, U8, U9, and U11 teams from all over the province and is one of the four major tournaments that the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association hosts each year.

RMMHA general manager Jordan Emmerson said that a total of 63 teams will be competing in the tournament, including several local teams.

“It’ll be a lot of fun and a lot of exposure to the community and our facilities,” said Emmerson.

Rustlers teams fell short of any first-place finishes at the last local tournament, which was the Hometown Heroes tournament in January, but they’ll have another chance to get gold on the long weekend.
