Dozens of B.C. riders spent their Labour Day weekend at the Maple Ridge Equi-Sports Centre trying to earn a top spot in one of the last horse jumping competitions of the season.

Empire Equestrian coach Kaitlyn Harbour said that her team of riders were in top form, making their way to the top of the leaderboard across several categories.

"The horses and riders were challenged over different terrains and obstacles, and judged on their fault-free rounds, style, and composure," said Harbour.

The list of winners included:

• Olivia Harbour Logan and Copper (leadline champion)

• Mackenzie Hobbs Webb and Copper (cross-rail champion)

• Anna Popova and Paddington Bear (top ribbons x-rail division)

• Emily Bettesworth and Sundae (x-rail champion)

• Abby White and Simon (top ribbons 18” division)

"The team has one last gold competition at Thunderbird Show Park coming up mid-September, and then will spend the winter preparing for the following season," said Harbour.
