Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows athletes win numerous BC Games medals

Vancouver Island-Central Coast team scored the highest medal count of the Games

There were numerous medals won by athletes from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows during the 2024 BC Summer Games.

 The Vancouver Island-Central Coast team scored the highest medal count at the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Games, which were held in Maple Ridge from July 17-21.

That winning Zone 6 team had 152 medals, including 41 gold, 62 silver, and 49 bronze. Right behind them was the Fraser River, Zone 4 team, with 142 medals, including the most gold with 61, and another 45 silver and 36 bronze.

The Vancouver Coastal (Zone 5) team finished third with 121 medals, and the host Fraser Valley (Zone 3) team was fourth with 101 medals.

Local athletes from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows took home their share of hardware from a variety of sports including:

• The Zone three team won gold in box lacrosse, and that team included Aiden Hertslet, Cody Todd and Cole Samson.

• The silver-winning field lacrosse team featured Cohen Slade, Jesse Hilkewich, Edward Weber and Connor Twaites.

• The silver-winning boys basketball team included Ethan Saranchuk and Owen McDougall.

• Girls soccer gold squad featured Caitly Johansen, Callie Murphy, Ava Rosse, Whitney Todd, and Shannah Wilson.

• Girls softball gold for Makenna Cawker, Sara MacDonald, Jada Manion, Bella-Rose Tyson, and Julia Waterman.

• There were also locals on a second zone softball team that took bronze: Krystyna Baski, Thea Evans, Aden MacDonald, and Karley Vukonic.

• Girls hammer throw, Megan Teolis, gold

• Boys pentathlon, Micah Breedveld, gold

• Boys waterski jumping, Caden Wedd, bronze

• Boys wrestling 54 kg, Tyson Deane-Freeman, silver

• Girls 69 kg wrestling, Sophia Stark, bronze

• Boys 90 kg wrestling, Lindon Sinow-Horton gold

• Girls 75 kg wrestling, Zahara Adomi, gold

• Girls 90 kg wrestling, Bella Berner, silver

• Kayaker Tristan Windsor won gold at 500m and 2000m distances

• Kayaker Jack Wade took silver at 500m and 2000m

• Sam Edgerton took gold at 500m and 2000m in kayak, and in canoe took silver at 2000m and bronze at 500m

• Xander Mouland took silver in 500m kayak, and bronze in 500m canoe

• Dalilah Carlsonsosa took silver in both 500m and 2000m kayak

• Tristan Windsor and Felix Nicholson won gold in the two-person kayak 1000m event

• Xander Mouland and Sam Edgerton won gold in 1000m K2

• Wade, Windsor, Edgerton and Mouland won silver in the four-person canoe 500m race
