Maple Ridge Ramblers wrestlers win Seaforth Cup in Vancouver

Many wrestlers from the always tough Ramblers team took medals

The Maple Ridge secondary wrestling team won the Seaforth Cup on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Seaforth Armoury in Vancouver.

"The building, which is over 100 years old, was an amazing venue for a wrestling meet, with over 250 wrestlers from 40 different schools," said Ramblers coach Kevin Menic.

"This very classy tournament was put on by the Canadian military and organized by Mike Roselli of Vancouver College."

Vancouver College was the winner of the first two years of this tournament, but this year the Ramblers broke their streak.

First place finishers from Maple Ridge were Linden Sinow-Horton, Callum Ross, Ethan Corney and Sophia Stark. Winning silver was Damon Deane-Freeman, and bronze was taken by Tyson Deane-Freeman, Travis Schultz, Jeremiahz Sosnowski, and Eva Fuller. Fourth-place finishers who score points for their team – were Bella Berner, Margot Nielsen, Jackson Van't Hullenaar, and Levi Tosoni.

"Great job by all 26 wrestlers who came to this meet," said Menic.
