The Ridge Meadows Flames suffered their second loss of the Pacific Junior Hockey League season, after an 8-6 loss to the Delta Ice Hawks on Friday night.
The Flames scored five goals in the second period, and took a 6-3 lead into the third, but then got bombed 5-0 in the final frame to take their second loss of the year.
Their record drops to 14 wins and two losses, but as outstanding as that is, they rank second in the Harold Brittain Conference to the Chilliwack Jets, who have lost once in 20 outings.
Flames forward Theo Kochon had two goals and an assist, Zack Lagrange had a goal and two helpers, and Nolan Bowsher had three assists.
The Flames next game will be at George Preston Recreation Centre on Wednesday, Nov. 6 when they take on the Langley Trappers. Then on Friday, Nov. 8 they host the Mission City Outlaws at Cam Neely Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The Flames also announced a trade, as the team acquired forward Jonah Power Smith, 18, from the Portage Terriers for future considerations. He played eight games with the Terriers, putting up a goal and two assists in three games.
Smith is a Port Moody product who played with the Vancouver North East Chiefs. He had 115 points in 105 games, and a BCEHL provincial championship. He is listed at six-foot-three and just over 200 pounds.
The move was one of three made by the Terriers over the weekend, as the Manitoba Junior Hockey League team traded rookies for player development fees to trim their roster.
The Flames also got a goal from affiliate player Lucas Biros, who was called up for the Friday night game. He currently plays for the NE Chiefs, and saw action as an AP in the Stonehouse Cup last season. It was his first junior goal.
