The Ridge Meadows Flames got a shutout to stretch their season-opening winning streak to nine straight game.

Rookie goaltender Josh Vallee was perfect on 20 shots to get the shutout, and defenceman Tyler Blatz scored the only goal of the game as the Flames won 1-0 on Friday night in Abbotsford.

Vallee had to stare down a penalty shot by Pilots sniper Ashton McDonaugh to register the perfect game.

Vallee has had an incredible start to his junior hockey career – that was his third shutout. He has allowed just one goal through his four starts, to post an eye-popping .989 save percentage, and a 0.25 goals against average.

For comparison, former Flame Vaughn Kaliel led the league with seven shutouts in 23 games last season.

The Flames are the only unbeaten team left in the PJHL.

• Flames forward Zack Lagrange was held pointless for the first time this season, but the accolades continue for the Pitt Meadows player. He was lauded for recently joining the 150-point club in the PJHL – he now has 155 points in 130 games. Number 88 was also the player of the week for the week ending Sept. 29, when he had seven points in two games.

• The Flames will be at Harry Jerome Arena to take on the North Vancouver Wolf Pack (2-6-1-1) on Oct. 12, and their next home game will be on Oct. 18 when they face the Langley Trappers (7-6) at Cam Neely Arena.
