Ridge Meadows Flames forward Jacob Roche (77), seen here in earlier action, had a hat trick in Port Coquitlam on Jan. 12.

Two Ridge Meadows Flames players scored hat tricks as the team enjoyed a pair of lopsided wins in Pacific Junior Hockey League action over the weekend.

First the Flames blasted the Mission City Outlaws 11-2 on Friday, Jan. 10, and then visited Port Coquitlam on Sunday and beat the Trailblazers 7-1.

In Coquitlam, forward Jacob Roche had three goals, while captain Lukas Ravenstein had a goal and an assist. In net, Matthew Candusso was impressive with 25 saves on 26 shots.

Against Mission, it was Theo Kochan with the hat trick, but Pierce Whyte had four points on two goals and two assists. Cohen Muc had three helpers, while Samuel Allen and Zack Lagrange each had two goals and an assist. Josh Vallee got the win in net, as the rookie stopped 21 of 23 shots.

The Chilliwack Jets lost to the Richmond Sockeyes by a score of 6-3 on Thursday, Jan. 9, meaning the Flames are just two points behind the first-place squad, but have played two fewer games. So the Flames would finishe first if both teams win out – a realistic possibility based on the season so far.

The Flames have 33 wins, four losses, an overtime loss and a shootout loss, for a league-best 0.872 win percentage. The Jets are 35-6 for a 0.854 win percentage.

The Flames also have the best special teams in the league, with the power play at 37 per cent, and the penalty kill also topping the league at 92 per cent.

The Flames have only nine games left in the regular season, and are back in action on Friday night, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m., when they host the Surrey Knights (13-25-2-0).
