The Ridge Meadows Flames took part in the Pacific Junior Hockey League all-star game on Monday evening, Jan. 13 at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre, and their Harold Brittain Conference all-stars lost a 6-5 overtime game to the selects from the Tom Shaw Conference.

Delta Ice Hawk Mateo Sjoberg, who is in the league scoring race, got the winning goal just 16 seconds into overtime.

The Flames had seven players named to the all-star team in Theo Kochan, Jakob Loewen, Zack Lagrange, Matthew Candusso, Lukas Ravenstein, Pierce Whyte, and Nolan Bowsher. Then they traded for another all-star in defenceman Justin Sumners from the Langley Trappers. GM Derek Bedard and head coach Brent Hughes also took part in the game.

Flames captain Ravenstein scored for the Brittain boys, and Kochan had two assists. Whyte and Lagrange also had helpers, while Candusso stopped 14 of 15 shots in net.

The Flames will host the Surrey Knights on Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Cam Neely Arena, and the next night they are at the Mission Leisure Centre to take on the Outlaws.
