The Ridge Meadows Flames embarrassed the Aldergrove Kodiaks 12-0 for their third straight victory to start a new season in the Pacific Junior Hockey League.
Combined with wins of 9-1 and 14-2 last weekend, the Flames have outscored opponents by an aggregate of 35-3 on the year.
Zack Lagrange had five goals and an assist against Aldergrove, giving the Pitt Meadows product a league-leading six goals and 11 points.
Flames goaltender Josh Vallee had 14 saves for a shutout in his first game with the Flames.
"The team in front of me did amazing, so it was not much of a test for me," was his humble reaction in a post-game interview, and the Coquitlam rookie added that the team has made him feel welcome.
Team captain Lukas Ravenstein said the Flames have a great group of rookies, including Vallee.
"We've been buzzing all season so far," said Ravenstein, who had four assists on the night. "They (the new players) have been unreal – they're the reason why we've been so successful so far. They're really helping us."
Rookie Mateo Prexler of Maple Ridge got his first goal in junior, and James Eagle also scored, and has six points so far on the year.
Veterans got their points too, with Pierce Whyte (two goals and an assist), Sam Allen (goal and two assists), and Theo Kochan (three assists) each getting three points.
The Flames are back in action at the Ladner Leisure Centre on Tuesday, Sept. 17, when they face the always tough Delta Ice Hawks, who have three wins and two losses so far this year.
Then Chilliwack will visit Ridge on Friday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Cam Neely Arena. The Jets have started the season with two wins.
