Molson has sold its Vancouver brewery and is looking for a place to build a new facility in the Lower Mainland.

The city has found three potential Abbotsford locations for Molson’s next brewery, but the beer giant is eying properties elsewhere in the Lower Mainland, according to a report to a city committee.

After selling its Vancouver location earlier this year to a developer for $185 million, Molson is now looking for a site for its new brewery.

According to a report to the City of Abbotsford’s committee for business innovation, growth and attraction, Molson has been pitched three local sites. However, the report notes that the company is “under negotiations with a couple of properties, none of which are located in Abbotsford but are in the Lower Mainland.”

Earlier this month, Molson told Black Press, “Molson Coors continues to search for a site to locate a new brewery to be built in British Columbia. There has not been a site chosen at this point. There are a number of complex factors that we are continuing to review on a number of prospective sites.”

The brewery’s Vancouver site employed more than 200.
