An autopsy has failed to reveal how a Maple Ridge man died, leaving police to continue investigating his death as a possible homicide.

Ridge Meadows RCMP, paramedics and the fire department were called to the house on Carshill Street just after 2:15 a.m. Monday to care for a man in medical distress.

Paramedics performed CPR on the 59-year-old man, but he died a short while later, despite efforts to revive him.

The house was sealed off following the man’s death and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in to help Ridge Meadows RCMP determine what led up to it.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound with IHIT said there was a domestic incident that occurred prior to this man’s death. Although the man had no visible injuries on his body, investigators processed the scene as if a murder had taken place.

“The pathologist needs some time to do more testing in order to conclude if the death looks suspicious or is as a result of natural causes,” said Pound.

“We won’t have an answer until that report comes to us. We continue to investigate it as a homicide until the evidence changes the course of our investigation.”
