Bothersome bear trapped in Albion

Bears have been wandering the back yards and alleys of Maple Ridge suburb

They’ve caught at least one of the bears that’s been bugging residents in south Albion.

Sunday evening a bumbling bruin walked into the trap set near Elizabeth Taylor’s home on 100B Avenue.

She called the conservation officer, who told her that many bears are in the area and that the bear would be relocated because it hadn’t been caught previously.

“Too bad we do not have a bylaw for the home owners who leave garbage out leading to the unnecessary deaths of our wildlife,” Taylor said in an e-mail that accompanied a photo of bear.

Taylor says Maple Ridge should make it mandatory to keep garbage cans inside until the morning of collection, in order to reduce the number of bears attracted to the suburbs.
