Clerk assaulted in Maple Ridge liquor store fight

Ridge Meadows RCMP have arrested a 38-year-old Maple Ridge man after a fight broke out Thursday night at the Haney Hotel liquor store.

Two men got into an altercation inside the liquor store around 7 p.m. Police say the store’s clerk attempted to calm the situation down and get both men to leave the store, but the suspect grabbed the clerk before leaving. Once outside, the suspect then hit the other man and ran off.

Police located the suspect the next day and arrested him without incident.

The man was to appear in court on Monday to face two counts of assault.
