A man was hit with a crowbar Friday afternoon during a home invasion that targeted a marijuana grow operation in east Maple Ridge.
Two men broke into the house on 124th Avenue, east of 232nd Street, around 3:15 p.m. and threatened two men who were inside. Police said the men were not residents of the house.
During the altercation, one of the men was struck with a crowbar, but not seriously injured.
Ridge Meadows RCMP believe the suspects were looking for marijuana, but left without stealing anything.
“This type of crime has occurred somewhat frequently in the Lower Mainland, and all police agencies have become aware of this activity,” said Insp. Derren Lench.
“We do not feel this type of crime will have any affect on the average citizen, but certainly poses a threat to persons who grow marijuana, either legally or illegally.”
Police seized several marijuana plants from the property.
The suspects are described as white men in their early 20s with slim builds. They drove off in a dark blue or black, car, possibly a newer model Nissan Altima.

Probation violation
A 30-year-old woman is in police custody for breaching conditions of her probation.
Ridge Meadows RCMP and members of the Maple Ridge Fire Department went to a home on Royal Crescent in Maple Ridge around 9:40 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report about an unconscious woman.
Police said the woman had regained consciousness by the time officers arrived but they learned she had consumed quantities of alcohol and marijuana, contrary to a current probation order.
The woman was arrested and held in police custody for a court appearance on Monday.
Break-in
Oxygen used for welding was stolen Friday during a break-and-enter in Maple Ridge.
Thieves got onto the Kingston Street property by cutting a hole in a fence. Police said the thieves then cut a security padlock on an outdoor shed and stole some bottles of oxygen used for welding.
Car crash
A 59-year-old man from Aldergrove man faces charges in connection with a two-vehicle crash Friday in Pitt Meadows.
The crash took place around 10 a.m. at Harris and McMyn Road. Both drivers were checked by paramedics with the B.C. Ambulance Service but did not need further medical attention.
One driver was charged with failing to stop at a red light.
Traffic enforcement
Three drivers lost their vehicles over the weekend for breaking a slew of traffic rules.
On Friday, around 2 a.m., a 31-year-old man was stopped after he was seen driving erratically. He provided a sample of breath into the roadside screening device, which resulted in a ‘fail’ reading. He lost his driving privileges for a period of 90 days and his car was impounded for 30 days.
Around 6:30 p.m., a 22-year-old Maple Ridge man was stopped for speeding through a police radar operation. He was caught going over 100 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
The man lost his Toyota Supra for seven days due to excessive speeding and received $368 fine.
A 28-year-old Maple Ridge man lost his car for 30 days after police stopped him on suspicion of driving drunk.
Samples of the man's breath resulted in fail readings. Besides losing his car, the man was handed a 90 day driving prohibition.
