Police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman Friday in Maple Ridge.

The man in a green pickup truck met the woman near 225th Street and Lougheed Highway between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., according to Ridge Meadows RCMP.

Then he drove the woman to a remote area, believed to be around 256th Street and Dewdney Trunk Road, where he sexually assaulted her.

“We are definitely going to need help from citizens to solve this horrible crime,” said Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.

“Not only was she sexually and physically assaulted, she was abandoned in a rural area and forced to make her own way back to Maple Ridge. “

The woman sought help from a man who drove her into downtown Maple Ridge, where she could get help.

Police are looking to speak to him.

“We want to thank, and interview the helpful citizen who picked her up and drove her to the downtown area, where she was able to get assistance,” added Dunlop.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 50s with a pale complexion and shoulder-length blond hair and a moustache.

He had a deep voice.  He was wearing a black coat, blue jeans, and had a gold ring on the finger of one hand. He was driving a green single cab, full-sized pickup truck with a white camper.

Three people escaped serious injury following a crash early Tuesday in Pitt Meadows.

The crash between a Dodge Avenger and Volkswagen Jetta happened at 6:15 a.m.  at the intersection of Harris and Old Dewdney Trunk Road.

Both drivers and a passenger were checked at the scene for injuries but no one was taken to hospital.

Police have charged the driver of the Dodge car with driving without due care and attention.

Assault allegation

Ridge Meadows RCMP arrested a 41-year-old man Tuesday on allegations of an assault and failing to abide by his bail conditions.

Police were called to a McDonald’s restaurant on Harris Road in Pitt Meadows at 5:45 p.m. after staff reported an intoxicated man who was causing problems.

Cpl. Alanna Dunlop said the man allegedly spat on restaurant’s manager and left before officers arrived.

Police located him near a grocery store where he was arrested.

Dunlop said officers soon learned the man was violating court-ordered conditions by being in possession of alcohol, and consuming alcohol.

He was held in custody for a court appearance on Wednesday.
