Man stabbed on Golden Ears Bridge overpass, woman arrested

Police arrested a 25-year-old woman who was with him on the overpass.

Shoppers at Meadowtown Centre in Pitt Meadows were treated to a strange sight Thursday evening as a B.C. Air Ambulance swooped down on to the parking lot and scooped up a 60-year-old man who'd just been stabbed.

Ridge Meadows RCMP say the man was on the Golden Ears Way overpass, south of Lougheed Highway about 7 p.m. when he was stabbed. He made his way to a nearby liquor store in the mall, where police were called. His injuries are described as "non-life threatening."

Police arrested a 25-year-old woman who was with him on the overpass.

“The victim and suspect know each other, and this did not endanger the safety of our community," said Insp. Dave Fleugel.

"Our officers got to the scene as soon as they were notified, and got this under control right away. We will now put this matter before the courts."

The suspect was held overnight and appeared in Port Coquitlam provincial court today.
