This year's Canada Day celebrations in Memorial Peace Park kick off a summer of celebrations that will include the 2024 BC Games and the city's 150th anniversary.
Thousands come to Memorial Peace Park dressed in their best red and white, Maple Leaf attire each year on Canada Day, and this year city hall against invites the community to party on July 1 with live music, food, dance performances, a kids zone and family activities to celebrate the nation’s birthday.
The July 1 event takes place in Memorial Peace Park from noon to 6 p.m., and this year’s free celebrations will feature four entertainment stages, a 224 Street Party, a climbing wall, a Kids Zone, food trucks, and more. Aché Brasil is the lead act, combining acrobatics, martial arts, Afro-Brazilian dance, and "hypnotic rhythms" in its performance.
“Canada Day is always a popular time for our community to come together to reflect, appreciate our shared values and celebrate our rich diversity and heritage,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “As part of our 150 celebrations, this year’s events will be bigger and better than ever, with something for everyone to enjoy. Come join us and enjoy the festivities marking our nation’s birthday.”
Event Highlights include:

• A Kids Zone with a dedicated games area including face painting, inflatable obstacles and a tot hockey rink
• Eat Street showcasing a variety of food trucks catering to diverse tastes.
• Family activities, including Zumba and dance for all ages.
