The City of Maple Ridge is inviting members of the community to help define the city’s new brand and story.

Maple Ridge is one of the fastest growing cities in B.C., and city hall touts its commitment to creating a vibrant, sustainable, connected, and prosperous community that is a regional leader in innovation.

The city is working on a brand strategy and visual identity to tell that story. The new brand will be designed to build citizen engagement. It will also market Maple Ridge for tourism and economic development, as the city gears up to host both the 2024 BC Summer Games and the city’s 150-year anniversary.

The city has announced it is working with an agency to develop the brand strategy. As part of this work, an extensive review of public input has been undertaken from various city strategies over the years, as well as from the 2022 Citizens Satisfaction Survey, to understand where we are today and the broad perceptions of the community.

In addition, the city held focus groups to get feedback from citizens, business and community leaders, and from city staff. What emerged was some general themes about what people see as the unique aspects of Maple Ridge.

The city has launched a survey on the Engage Maple Ridge platform to gather feedback on these broad themes. This feedback is important in making sure that the city’s brand story is authentic and resonates with residents.

Residents are being asked to rank and share their thoughts on the three themes and identify if any attributes are missing:

  • A Growing and Thriving Community
  • A Place to Build Your Home and Dreams
  • Surrounded by Nature

The Engage Maple Ridge Survey is open until June 15, and the results will be compiled and shared with the consultants and council as the brand strategy and assets are developed in the coming months.
