A couple from Maple Ridge won $1 million in the B.C. Lottery Corporation's Lotto Max.
Christine and Robert Loewen bought the winning ticket at Fifth Avenue Grocery on 216th Street for the draw on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
And that is where they also found out they won.
“We’re Still in disbelief," said Christine about their win.
The couple didn't check their ticket until Saturday, Jan. 11.
“I was in Fifth Avenue Grocery,” recalled Robert. “I said ‘No!’ and scanned again. I was excited and called Christine over to look.”
At the time of their prize claim at the lottery corporation, the Maple Ridge couple hadn’t yet shared the news of their win with anyone.
The Loewen’s don’t have any immediate plans on how to spend their prize money, but plan to talk to a financial advisor.
“Unreal, we’re still in disbelief. We haven’t slept,” added Christine.
Last year, more than $132 million in prizes have been awarded from the Lotto Max draw nationwide.
