Maple Ridge man charged with assaulting a peace officer

A 24-year-old Maple Ridge man is facing criminal charges after a a fight with police Thursday.

Just before 10 p.m. Thursday, police received a report of a man exposing himself in the 22400-block of Dewdney Trunk Road.

Police located the male suspect, who resisted arrest.

“The male was physically aggressive with the attending officers, who forcibly took him into custody,” said Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl. Brenda Whinny.

He was held in police custody and appeared in court on Friday.

He is now before the courts on charges of assaulting a peace officer and an indecent act.

He was remanded in custody over the weekend.
