Two Maple Ridge men have been charged in connection with a series of pharmacy robberies in the Lower Mainland, including Maple Ridge.

Ryan Olson, 27, and Luke Ash, 29, have been charged with robbery, according to Ridge Meadows RCMP.

The robberies occurred between Aug.  21 and Oct. 12 at pharmacies in Maple Ridge, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, and Port Moody.

Members of the RCMP street enforcement unit utilized a number of strategies that resulted in the charges, and the recovery of some of the stolen property and other items.

"I want to acknowledge Surrey RCMP Robbery Unit, Langley RCMP General Investigation Section, and both Abbotsford and Port Moody police departments in assisting us," said Ridge Meadows RCMP Supt. Dave Walsh. "This clearly shows how all Lower Mainland RCMP work with all of our neighbouring detachments and municipal police agencies, as criminals don’t recognize any borders or boundaries. ”

Neither accused was previously known to police. Both appeared in provincial court Thursday, with Ash getting bail and Olson being held in custody. Their next appearance is Thursday, Dec. 6.
