Public schools in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, after being closed the past two days, are open today.
Regular school buses are on snow routes.
However, after 20 to 30 centimetres fell the past four days, more snow, about five to 10 centimetres, is expected later today.
Environment Canada has issued a winter weather warning.
"Snow at times heavy changing to rain this evening. Risk of freezing rain early this evening. Freezing rain at times heavy inland late this evening and overnight. Local snowfall amount 10 cm. Rainfall amount 20 mm. Temperature steady near zero."
With heavy snowfall forecast to begin this afternoon into the evening, followed by freezing rain, TransLink is preparing for hazardous conditions that may impact transit services.
"Staff are working hard, and additional staff and resources are being deployed to ensure the transit system keeps people moving," said TransLink.
