A teenager was taken to hospital after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge.
The 14-year-boy was walking across the highway, near 210th Street, when the truck which was traveling east struck him during the evening rush hour around 6:15 p.m.
Staff Sgt. Mike Bhatti said the force of the collision knocked the youth several meters into the air.
The boy was taken to hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown at the moment.
Bhatti said his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
Ridge Meadows RCMP shut down east bound lanes of the highway for 45 minutes to conduct an investigation.
The road has since opened to traffic in both directions.
