Several recreation facilities envisaged by the city.

The first get-together for discussing Maple Ridge’s proposed new aquatic centre, ice rinks and civic and cultural centre will take place Wednesday, Jan. 25 in the business tower next to city hall.

A civic facilities dialogue to share information about the proposed civic cultural complex, along with otherfacilities will be included as a part of a workshop on grants.

“Community input is an important aspect of this project and people who live, work and play in the city are encouraged to be a part of the conversation,” said a news release last week from the city.

The meeting will also focus on the city’s cultural grants program that will support festivals, community events and theatre groups. The application processes will be outlined with guidelines and tips for effectively applying for funding.

“Grant funding is intended to build community spirit, foster economic benefits, develop artistic excellence and promote community involvement through support to community festivals, neighbourhood block parties and projects, and arts and cultural activities.”
