Downtown will see a new six-storey building, just west of 224th Street, on McIntosh Avenue.
Halostar Development is building a six-storey, 35-condo building at 22335 McIntosh Ave. and just received building permit approval at council’s Jan. 24 meeting.
The building will have commercial space on the ground floor, with five storeys above for two-bedroom units.
A total of 42 parking spaces will be provided behind the commercial area.
Forty-two stalls is one short of requirements for such a building, so, in lieu, the builder is paying the city $8,000.
“This project will add vibrancy in the town centre area with the additional residents and business it will accommodate,” said a staff report.
Coun. Craig Speirs pointed out the that the building is being constructed without the town centre incentives, such as property tax exemptions, which expired several years ago.
