Pilot survives scrape at Pitt Meadows Regional Airport

Wheels wouldn't come down on single-engine aircraft

The single occupant of a small plane survived a rough landing at supper time Thursday at Pitt Meadows airport.

Ridge Meadows RCMP say the 64-old-pilot walked way from his Piper Arrow 4 about 5:30 p.m. after making a belly landing on the runway when the landing gear wouldn't come down.

While the pilot wasn't injured there was some damage to the underside of the aircraft and the propeller. Transport Canada is investigating.
