General manager Guy Miller is back at work at the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport.

“I am back on the job,” he said on Thursday, adding that no official resignation was accepted.

There were reports Miller had resigned on Friday, which were confirmed by Pitt Meadows Coun. Bill Dingwall, and Miller’s father George Miller – who was acting GM at the airport before his son was made a permanent hire – and others who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Miller has only been on the job since June 18.

He refused to speak about the situation, adding that he prefers to focus on the development of the airport.

“There’s a lot of good initiatives we’re pushing forward right now, and I’m excited about it,” he said.

Pitt Meadows Mayor John Becker, who is the acting chair of the interim airport board, said about Miller on Tuesday that the situation was an “HR conversation,” and he would not comment about it.

Becker did not return multiple calls on Wednesday and Thursday.

Becker did comment on the issue through social media Wednesday, under the story, calling the report of Miller’s resignation “spreading of misinformation.”

Dingwall, a declared mayoralty candidate for the October election, said he is glad to see Miller return, and that he brings an excellent reputation.

“It makes me happy he’s back. He’s a bright individual with a lot of experience, and if I’m elected I will get to work with him.”

The airport is owned by the Pitt Meadows Airport Society, whose members are the cities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

The YPK board of directors oversees airport operations.
