A Maple Ridge elementary school was locked down for a short time Thursday morning while police searched for a man who broke into a house nearby.
Ridge Meadows RCMP were called around 8:30 a.m. after the man was spotted entering a home in the Albion area.
Police said the man fled from officers when they arrived on scene.
A police dog was brought in to track the suspect, who fled north towards the Albion sports fields.
Albion elementary on 240th Street was locked down as a precaution, while RCMP cruisers fanned out across the neighbourhood.
Police allege the man on the run is Clayton Quigley, who has several warrants out for his arrest.
He is described as a man between 20 and 30 years old, five foot eight, with a red beard. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, green work-style pants and sunglasses. He was also carrying a black backpack.
