Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run.

An elderly woman was struck by a vehicle at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 12 in the parking lot of the shopping center, at the corner of Edge Street and Brown Avenue, just east of the No Frills grocery store.

As she fell to the ground she called out for help and witnesses came to her aid.

Police say the suspect vehicle did initially stop after the incident, circling the parking lot and returning to where the pedestrian was hit, but then it left the scene, travelling west in the parking lot and exiting onto Dewdney Trunk Road.

The vehicle is described as a brown Hyundai Elantra hatchback with winter rims and damage to the rear passenger-side door.

Police also want to speak with a driver who stopped to help the pedestrian on scene. This vehicle is described as a tan Mazda CX7 that was driven by a woman.

The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Cst. Barrera at 604-463-6251 and reference file number 2022-645.
