Maple Ridge is preparing to kick off Pride Month this Saturday with the return of the Pride in the Park event at Memorial Peace Park.

This free event is put on by the PLEA Community Services Society of BC and will feature a variety of attractions, including a barbecue, games, food trucks, face painting, a live drag show, and more.

Entertainer David C Jones will be the MC of the event, with regional drag queens Scarlett Rose, Jaylene Tyme, Justin Abit, and Carrie Dawn performing throughout the day.

“I’m so excited to be involved in Pride in the Park for the second year in a row because it really helps build a sense of community within Maple Ridge,” said Dawn.

“I’m booked for at least a dozen Pride events throughout the month of June but kicking off Pride Month 2023 in my home city of Maple Ridge just feels right and I couldn’t be more proud.”
