Police say a protest was peaceful that took place in Memorial Peace Park on Saturday.

About 125-150 people turned out to the protest called a Freedom Rally and March to end mandates.

A poster for the event titled “Strong and Free” was circulating online on Friday.

Members of the Ridge Meadows RCMP, Maple Ridge Bylaws officers, Community Safety Officers were in attendance to ensure the safety of everyone on scene, said Corporal Julie Klaussner with the Ridge Meadows RCMP.

Klaussner said there were minor traffic disruptions while rally participants walked down 224 Street, along 227 Street and on Dewdney Trunk Road.
