Kanaka Creek elementary will get $705,000 in provincial funding to install heat pumps and direct digital control systems, the Liberal government announced Tuesday.
In total, the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows School District will receive $1.4 million for school upgrade projects and classroom supplies, said MLA Doug Bing.
"Teachers play a crucial role in our students' success. By ensuring they have appropriate tools like textbooks and supplies, their students will be better able to fully grasp the curriculum,” Bing added.
Under the new Student Learning Grant, the local district will get $730,150 to purchase classroom equipment and supplies such as textbooks, lab equipment and art supplies. The district will begin planning with parents and teachers now to determine how best to use the one-time funding to reduce costs and deliver B.C.'s new curriculum.
Every school district will receive a portion of the province’s $53-million investment fund, supporting 223 projects.
