Mounties make visit to home in Maple Ridge Friday

 

The Vancouver Police Department say one of its own, an officer who lives in Maple Ridge, has been arrested on allegations of assault and unlawful confinement.

The officer, a 10-year member of the Vancouver force, and was arrested Friday when Mounties attended his Maple Ridge home.

Vancouver police say earlier that day a woman went to the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment reporting she had been victim of a domestic assault.

The officer has been removed from front-line duties, pending the results of the investigation.

Vancouver police have notified the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner.

Vancouver police say Ridge Meadows RCMP are handling the investigation, but Mounties haven't commented.
