In the latest round of fundraising, Ridge Meadows RCMP were able to provide the local food bank with nearly $1,000 in cash and food donations.

On Friday, Aug. 25, the Ridge Meadows RCMP announced that they had once again held a Pack the Police Cruiser event, where RCMP officers and volunteers set up outside of stores throughout Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows to collect cash and food donations.

Everything collected is then sent to the Friends in Need Food Bank, which distributes more than 650 hampers of food per month and gives supplies to upwards of 20 organizations and programs in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Cpl. Julie Klaussner of Ridge Meadows RCMP said that the total amount raised would likely surpass $1,000 once they accounted for tap donations.

“Ridge Meadows RCMP, crime prevention, and our volunteers are so thankful to have the amazing support of the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows who came out to support the Friends in Need Food Bank back-to-school lunch program,” said Klaussner.
