Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows School District is looking for input on whether secondary school schedules should remain linear or change to semester.
Currently, all secondary schools in the school district follow a linear schedule, said the district, which means students take up to eight classes throughout the full school year.
Some schools may wan to continue with this model moving forward, but there is an option to transition to a semester schedule, where students take up to four classes per semester, with two semesters in the school year.
The school district has launched separate surveys for secondary students, staff, and families.
A different survey will also be available for staff, students, and families at Garibaldi Secondary School which will focus on supports for the existing linear model. Garibaldi Secondary must stick to the linear schedule to support its Middle Years and International Baccalaureate programs.
Any approved changes will take effect in the 2026/27 school year.
All surveys will be open until Friday, May 2.
