While the wind storm that hit the south coast caused heavy damage in many parts of Metro Vancouver, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows only saw a few minor incidents involving trees and power outages.

Stu Burgess, operational manager with SSG Holdings at Golden Ears Park, said they had two trees fall across the main road entry to the park that were quickly cleaned up. He said there may be more trees or branches down on some of the trails further into the park, but they haven’t been out this morning to confirm that.

“With a wind storm we expect a couple of trees down somewhere,” he said. “We actually got off easier than expected with this wind storm.”

Several people posted on social media saying their power was out. There are currently just over five-thousand people without power in the Lower Mainland right now.

Burgess said it only seemed like the southern parts of the park was hit with any stormy weather.
