The Maple Ridge fire department spent Thursday afternoon putting out a camper that caught fire on an abandoned property.

The blaze was reported by neighbours who saw black smoke rising from the property on 240 St. and 104 Ave. at 3:10 p.m.

Fire crews arriving immediately on scene, as the property backed onto a green belt thick with trees.

Maple Ridge fire captain Chris Bayley considers the fire to be suspicious and the fire department will conduct a further investigation to figure out the cause.

The fire completely destroyed the trailer.
