Two arrested for stealing metal in Maple Ridge

A man and woman were arrested by police Wednesday for allegedly stealing near rail tracks in Maple Ridge.

Ridge Meadows RCMP assisted members of the Canadian Pacific Rail police after someone reported the pair trespassing on railway property.

The 39-year old man and 28-year-old woman were taken back to the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment and held for the CP Police investigators.

 

Driver off road

Ridge Meadows RCMP took a prohibited driver off the road Wednesday and impounded the van he was driving.

Just before 8 p.m., officers with the Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Street Enforcement Unit saw the man, who is well known to police, driving a grey mini-van.

The vehicle parked on Mountainview Crescent in Maple Ridge and the man went inside a home.

He was arrested as soon as he left the house.

The 31-year-old man was held in police custody and will also face charges of failing to abide by conditions of his probation.

 

Car crash

No one was injured in a head-on collision early Wednesday in Maple Ridge.

Ridge Meadows RCMP, Maple Ridge Fire Department and B.C. Ambulance Service attended the crash between two pickup truck on 232nd Street at 124th Avenue at 6:30 a.m.

Police charged one driver with failing to yield to a vehicle.

 

Cars stolen

Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for two car reported stolen this week from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

A black 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix was taken overnight Saturday or early Monday from an underground parking lot at an apartment complex on Ford Road in Pitt Meadows.

The car had British Columbia licence plates 245 CER on it at the time of the theft.

Police are also looking for a brown 1994 Ford pickup truck that was stolen from the Haney Place shopping mall sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The truck was parked on the west side of the mall, near 224th Street in Maple Ridge. It had British Columbia licence plates 7103 HM on it at the time of the theft.

 

Break-in

Computers and dental equipment were stolen over the weekend from a dentist in Maple Ridge.

Thieves pried open a rear door to the business on the Lougheed Highway sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Monday.

Approximately $8,000 in computer and dental equipment was stolen.
