VIDEO: Carter beats Canada, Supreme Court votes down assisted death ban

In the video above, Lee Carter speaks in Ottawa after the Supreme Court of Canada voted down the country's ban on doctor-assisted death. Carter's mother Kay, a North Vancouver resident, chose to end her life on Jan. 15, 2010 in Switzerland.

Her case which headlined today's decision, Carter vs Canada.

"It allows Canadians to have a choice in their end-of-life decisions," Carter said. "If we were allowed to have a dignified death in Canada, all of her children and even extended family would have been there to share."
