UPDATED: RCMP vehicle involved in crash in Langley City

No serious injuries were reported following Friday night collision

More information has been released about a Friday night three-way crash involving an RCMP vehicle in Langley City.

Langley RCMP said around 6:45 p.m. two cars crashed at 200 Street and 56 Avenue and one of them then hit the police vehicle.

The unmarked police car was stopped at the light facing east when a southbound Ford Mustang collided with a Honda Civic making a left turn onto 56 Avenue.

The Mustang then hit the RCMP vehicle.

The collision was violent enough to shear off the front of the sedan and break the rear wheel off the axle of the Mustang.

RCMP said the occupants of both the Mustang and Civic were taken to hospital for treatment of relatively minor injuries and the officer in the police car was assessed and cleared by BC Ambulance Service at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and no violation tickets have been issued as of yet, police said.

Anyone who saw the collision and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.

About two hours after the intersection was cleared and traffic was allowed to resume, there was a flurry of police activity a few blocks away with multiple units including several unmarked vehicles seen in the area of 53 Avenue and 200 Street.

It was a takedown by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, the provincial anti-gang agency, and does not appear to be connected to the earlier intersection crash.
