UPDATE: Man, 20, and female passenger, 18, were killed in Maple Ridge crash

Another victim was flown to hospital by air ambulance on Saturday night

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Maple Ridge on Saturday night, July 16.

RCMP said the crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on Lougheed Highway between 272nd and 280th Streets.

One vehicle was travelling west and the other was heading east at the time of the crash, which took place on a two-lane section of road.

A white Honda Civic, being driven by a 20-year-old man with an 18-year-old woman passenger collided with a Honda CRV being driven by a 39-year-old woman, who was the lone occupant.

Maple Ridge Fire Department and BC Ambulance Services attempted life saving measures on the occupants of the Honda Civic, however they died on scene.

The woman in the Honda CRV was transported to hospital by BC Air Ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Ridge Meadows frontline officers Serious Crimes Unit investigators (SCU) and the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Services attended to assist with the investigation. Lougheed Hwy was closed until 9 a.m. Sunday morning for crash investigators to work. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl. Julie Klaussner offered thanks to the witnesses that stayed on scene and already spoke to police. She asked anyone who witnessed this collision, or who has dash camera footage, and have not yet spoken to police, please contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251.
