A car fire lit up downtown Abbotsford on Feb. 15, with no one suffering injuries.

Things got a bit heated in a downtown parking lot on the weekend when fire crews were called to a vehicle fire near South Fraser Way and Roberts Avenue.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Fraser Ridge Shopping Centre at approximately 11:30 p.m., with the car being fully engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived.

City of Abbotsford communications and public relations officer Melissa Godbout explained that the firefighters were able to extinguish the flames rather quickly, with no injuries being sustained by anyone.

"Crews were able to protect nearby structures from fire extension, however, an adjacent vehicle received some minor damage," Godbout said.
