The Islamic Society of Ridge Meadows is organizing a vigil Wednesday night in honour of those slain in a Quebec City mosque Sunday night.

The society, together with the Building Interfaith Bridges program at the Family Education and Support Centre, is holding the vigil at Memorial Peace Park in downtown Maple Ridge at 7 p.m. The event follows spontaneous gatherings and vigils in support of the victims that took place Monday night in cities across Canada. Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows MLA Doug Bing has said he'll attend.

Six people were gunned down and killed as they prayed in a mosque in Quebec City. A Quebec man is facing six murder charges.
